Talkin' 'bout TV

I realized the other day that I have stopped watching anything but news, occasional Britcoms and, when I can stay up, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert. I mean that I don't even know of any good dramatic series or good sitcoms. I'm out of the loop entirely. Anybody got any recommendations? Am I missing something good? I need to clear my head of CNN, at least until the hurricanes start. Also, does anybody have HBO and that sort of thing and is it worth the extra?

Comments:
"The Closer" is back, and definitely worth attention.

It's in the 80's here and I haven't turned on the air conditioner yet. So it turns out that I watch anything that my 18-year-old wants to watch.

no hbo in our house. i rarely watch tv except for the weather channel and somtimes gptv. i have so much noise in my work life, i prefer to read.

sporcupine, I am also a fan of "The Closer". One of my fav episodes is the one where her "boy" cat has to be rushed to the vet, then gives birth to kittens! Kyra S. is the perfect actress for this role. Nospring, I think you would like this one.
We do not have HBO.
I have found some interesting shows on Bravo recently. One was "Top Chef". Another, "Project Runway", is set to start a new season in a couple weeks.
I know it is really odd but I enjoy watching Criss Angel's "Mindfreak". I forget which channel.
Gosh, I did not realize I watch so much television!

Okay, I'll try to catch "The Closer" What night is it on?
I haven't watched that, but have watched "Cold Case" a few times and liked it.
