Thankful for Vincent, etc

Writing that I'm thankful for having food, shelter, clothing and safety during a year in which so many have been miserable or in harm's way doesn't feel right -- even though I do know how fortunate I am.
Anyway, I'm going to be thankful for Vincent Van Gogh. We watched a video a while ago and when this came on the screen, I remembered seeing the original back in the 1960s at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. I had seen plenty of his paintings in books, or in prints, but never that one, and it just about stopped my heart.
Also, I am thankful for Jane Austen and Thomas Jefferson.
Your turn.
p.s. If there's some art you want me to post, let me know by e-mail (shotsi@alltel.net).

Comments:
I'm thankful for my absurd cat Mikey, who is fatter than two normal cats combined, but has the most beautiful leonine face. He is now rubbing his face against my laptop, which is very silly.

Microwave popcorn. Crushed ice. Cranberries. Mochas. The absorption of vitamin D. Red leaves in the fall. Mapquest. The Federal Reserve Bank. Nora's face when she hears a pun. Wireless.

Aaron Neville and Linda Ronstadt singing, "Don't Know Much."

i am thankful for moments of grace and for feelings of joy and for those times i realize that i am loved.

p.s. i liked your warm colors blog page better than your blue period.:):)

hmmph!
:)

Camus on the subject of joy -
"In the depth of winter, I finally learned that there lay within me an invincible summer"

I found the blue page far more convenient for navigation, and it went so nicely with the Van Gogh.

Did you know that third-born children try to make everyone happy? (tee hee hee)

Everybody go to your rooms.

nice compromise for sporcupine and me. ease of navigation plus a less psych ward color.:) may we come out of our rooms now?

Actually I like the new version, too, and you can both come out of your rooms.
Re being a third child, I am always reminded of the old saying that the first child is like the first pancake.

oops, i guess that explains me...the first born.:):) you really have to admire my parents that they were willing to chance another child, thus my sister susan.

Good grief! You have a sister named Susan? That's sporcupine's alias.
First Pancake would be a good blogname for somebody.

i think i better stick with "barelyblogging". i did covet "gruntled"'s name initially, but i've gotten over it and i don't want to be sent back to my room for breaking one of the big ten. my sister's middle name is carol. both of her names were in the top ten for the 50's. terry louise didn't even make the top 100.:)i was named for a torch singer and my mother.
